Miami-based Pop, R&B and Dance artist, Stephania Desil, better known by her mononym, Stephania, has just released her debut hit single, “Lame” (produced by Taurean “Tak Ova” Wright for Maximum Feedback).
The 26-year old, singer/songwriter/rapper/dancer was born in Haiti in 1991 and came to America when she was just 2-years old. As one of eight children in her family and not many toys, Stephania grew to be very creative and eventually began writing poetry, which later became songs. She began singing in her church chior at the age of 8 and joined a variety of clubs and sport teams through middle and high school. After becoming a finalist in a singing competition for the Miami-Dade County Fair, Stephania soon began studio recording at age 16.
She continued to work on her own original music and after finishing school, decided to get her associates degree in the medical field. After graduating and giving birth to a daughter, Stephania put her focus back into her music and has been on the rise ever since!
Her new journey began performing at Open Mic events, one at which she met a promoter who invited her to come back to perform again. This led to an opportunity to compete in the national TopMics Tour Competition. After competing against other local artists, Stephania won the competition and received a distribution deal with Maximum Feedback, was on the cover of Probe Magazine and had radio interviews on The New Mixtape FM and IBNX. Since winning Topmics, she has toured with other Topmics winners and has become a regular performer at clubs in the greater Miami area. Stephania has also performed at benefit events and performed at a Christmas toy drive last month.
Her debut single, “Lame,” released this week is a smash in the clubs (especially in Miami!) Stephania is currently working on an EP and has another single due out soon!
